eRAM TEST 6 August 2002

Scenario

In a rush I installed the Super Charger eRAM 3.0 to somewhat past my MAF due to limited plumbing materials to custom fit. Ideally, I wanted it to be installed between my Throttle Body and MAF unit to bypass flap.

Test One

I did a couple of runs w/o Super Charger eRAM enabled – observing the Phantom Autometer tachometer run up and getting a feel from 3500 to 6800RPMs power band. My exhaust is 2.5"downpipe to cat back. – Not stock. I experienced no lag in throttle response due to the axial compressor design as I watched the shift light to come on. Ok – no Lag. Still my autometer Air / Fuel Mixture ran rich at wide open throttle reading the last 4 green bars.

eRAM Exhaust

Test Two

Ok this is where it gets interesting…….

Ok- then I enabled the eRAM by pressing NO/NC switch to ON. Switched on will enable the eRAM to operate at wide-open throttle. I ran a couple times - pedal to the metal hearing the whistling noises of the eRAM pitch even higher parallel to my engines RPM output. Odd but kewl …

Wow Low End is improved from 3500 RPMs to 6800 RPMs floored… Relying on my human senses my Autometer shift light came on earlier than expected… maybe by a few seconds set at 6800 RPMs. I sank more into my buckets seats as I held on to the torque oversteer.

My Autometer Air / Fuel mixture read all 6 bars Yellow STOICH with one green bar over par in the rich in between switching gears and WOT. Normally, I would get the last 4 green bars reading rich between shifting.

eRAM Intake

I am not saying this will replace the mechanical Super Charger / Turbos at the MOMENT. But it does help supplement your Non Aspirated engine’s Air Intake Systems from KN fitler to your ICE MANs. From my own experience the eRAM does help my engine breathe better from 3500 to 6800 RPMs – and I can feel the difference. Though its not completely installed as I’d like it to be due to plumbing fittings. I expect even better performance before the MAF unit to bypass the MAF’s Flap turbulence.

...........I did the search on ebay from Turbo Zet to Blower 8000 electric Super Chargers. Those are POS of parts.… In comparison this eRAM is well put together unit. Produces by far 4 to 5 times CFMs of those claiming units.

HIGHLIGHTS

1. 2 liter engine will require 220CFM of air flow at 6000rpm

2. Axial flow supercharger design – No LAG.

3. Produces - Air flow of 935CFM - 1 PSI

4. The eRAM is a 700watt device. (almost 1hp)

5. Wide Open Throttle (WOT) and draws close to 45amps at 13.5volts. I modded the eRam to operate at 18volts across the alternator now.

6. Its 3.5"diameter and computer designed high speed impeller, can spin up to 28,000rpm at 18volts.

7. Add 5-6% more Hp to your engines performance

.

Am I claiming actual HP Gain yet. No just relying on the human senses at the moment and it’s a big gain than before. – The actual HP Gain will be recorded at near by Dyno Shop - Abacus Racing once I complete the installation.

The baseline dyno will be without the MSD 6 AL and using a TENZO Racing Airfilter. I hope to get a solid test on the eRAM without any MODs contributing to its loss/gains..

TEST THREE - I was able to install the eRAM before the MAF so its now between the MAF and Throttle body. I also relocated the screen mesh of the eRAM to wrap around my throttle body opening to increase AIR FLOW.

Measures Taken: The outer-bypass of the eRAM intake system is heat shielded to prevent HEAT warpping using aircraft aluminum wrap. This insulated wrap will also keep your air duct cool from the headers. The intake of the eRAM is fitted with a Defuser duct to create high air pressure behind the MAF sensor. Where frontal HIGH PRESSURE AIR enters the eRAM at 2.5" to 3.5" duct. Then the high air pressure is channeled to the throttle body by a convergent duct from 3.5" to 2.5" thus causing a JET air into the T/B. I Use 10 Guage" wire to Optima GEL Battery relocate to the back. The battery offers 900cranking amps and with it relocated to the back offset the drivers weight balance equally giving better rear balance to rear tires. I installed new alternator at 70-90amps loads because the eRAM suck alot of juice.

Installed inlet temp gauage. Allows me to monitor air tempsertures to T/B. Having an air duct above the KN Filter allow ambient air temperatures to the T/B. In stop and go traffice expect temp to jump. The air duct has greatly improves my gas mileage... I installed Air Temperature sensors for these readings.. Ahh ShIT - What a big difference installing Pacesetter Headers!
