July 2004. The eRam is still running great at WOT here with temperature ranges 100F to 120F here in Phoenix Arizona. I have a installed a bypass switch when to enable eRam operation cuz the temp here at stop and go traffic reads well above 140F-160F at 3MPH during rush hours. This past Feburary I installed pacesetters (non-ceramic) and the RPMs is great. Arizona interstates reminds me of the German Autobahn. Interstate 10, 17, and Belt loop 101 is excellent for GT ride settings. My custom made hood (VRD) keeps the engine temp cabin equal to outside temperatures. I have cut out a 3"x5" vent front the alternator which allows air to cool the alternator. I made this mod because the alternator is near the headers. I still have my stock hood just in case I drive four season states. I hope to someday market my hood. My 87GT is garaged kept and I keep her in great condition.
Due to high temperatures here in AZ I no longer use Mobile1. I have switched to 10w40 Valvoline because the oil is clear. During oil changes. I only use 3quarts oil + 1 oil treatment using Lucas Oil. I have notice a big difference using Valvoline. Spark plugs are gapped at 1.2mm ~ .046 using Denzo, Iridiums.
Suspension wise - I have installed DropZone coilovers for a 95celica from MadRacing ConceptsSee picture. I can drop my ride down to 3" but I keep her set at 2"..
Once I get the aeroform body kit installed I will mod the front spoiler to house the oil cooler and 100watt fog lites. Yup 100watts.. I replaced the 55watts with 100watts bulbs. They are bright enough so I rarely use my flip head lights.
Installed PS2 Console with 5.5" TFT screen mounted on the passenger dash board -it rough around the edges, but will make it look neater sometime soon. I dont watch Movies/Games during driving. Its a plus on long interstate trips for my sweetheart who loves watching movies. Ok if Cadallac cars can have this feature. Why not?
I plan on having review color camera and front infrared color to see deers in the dark. This will probably require adding another 12volt battery to handle load. Audio pushers with large AMPS have a 2nd battery use this method. Still got alot of work to do....
Improved N/A setup with straight eRAM intake to T/B and Pacesetter for high RPMs. The Tenzo air filter you see here has been routed in the driver side wheel well. As a cold air intake.
This CAI I'm using is 3ft according flex pipe from autozone at $8.95. I widen the opening into the wheel well where the stock airbox use to route off the U-pipe intake. The eRAM is a compressor forces 1 to 3 PSI @ 15%HP. Angles design in most aftermarket CAI decrease HP. eRAM counter acts the bends in airflow restriction. My timing advance is 17* BTDC.
Making air duct for alternator. Found Valley fiber glass maker. Once final on hood will begin mold. This new design will be exposing the headers & backside of the radiator - meaning I'm punching down vent alot further. The valley fabricator wants 600 USD. Installed 100Watt HIDs.
September 2004: Replaced the stock rad fan with aftermarket fan from autozone. Prior to installation of rad fan - took some fine sand paper and sanded the corrosion off the water temp sensor. A good sensor will actuate the fan relay like new. At stop lights - you can hear the rad fan moving fast, sounds like a jet. I'm thinking about installing a 2nd 8" rad fan. I still have plenty of room in front of the Pacesetter Headers. Got new 2.5" downpipe. Replaced the stock downpipe to the stock flex pipe. Apparently the stock flex pipe is very restrictive. Well, it blew a quarter size hole through the flex pipe. 2 days later. Guess - what - it cracked my HI-CAT flap welds inside. So now at every startup the HI-CAT baffles (internals)flap sounding like ping pong balls. Once the gases exhauses get flowing - the rattling goes away. Crap - HI-CAT by randomtechnology.com isnt cheap.
October 2004: Planning on making extend lower brackets to extend both front quater panel from the bottom hinges. The extended lower brackets will be installed front of the lower doors. This will give a wide body effect and vent engine bay heat by cal duct. Here I dont have to cut air vents (slits) instead the expansion of the quarter panel will do. eg. Mazada RX8.
March 2005: Installed new Flow Masters Exhaust system rated for V8s engines using FlowMasters HI CAT and Magna Flow Muffler. Replaced and expanded new down pipe from Pacesetter Header of the collector to 2.5". Replaced stock FLEX PIPE for 2.5". Even with the pacesetter headers having the Flow Master Exhaust system installed my car isnt loud at all. Its very deep and throaty. If you install a pacesetter headers and it's very loud you need HI-CAT and Muffler.
Seems like it is possible to turbo as 3SFE. Searching the site I found Turbonetics manifold. This means we can add any turbonetics turbo of any choice. Still, there is consideration of having a controlled BOV from 5PSI to 25PSI settings.
Not only that you will need oil return feed lines to the turbo which, may require tapping into the lower block for a oil and return line to your oilpan. Better yet get a 3SGTE oil pan - thats if they mate up. Then there is the intercooler. Where will that go. I plan on using the intercooler up front in the air dam of my aeroform body kit.
This is the general idea I want to use from TURBONETICSINC.COM. That setup looks very close to my 3SFE setup. Intake runners in the back, throttle body are in the same place but in reverse. But here is the trick. See the K&N Fram filter, I will have to run a MAF extension to the turbo. It will work because I have seen this setup on a yellow celica 300HP + - looking at his setup makes me want to puke. I have stated this on 4gcelica.net. Here is actual picture of his setup. See the MAF extension connecting to the turbo. That what I need to do. So the flappy MAF wont be a problem.
My past adventures in the US NAVY was fun and very hard to live. Some of my ideas are inspired by the US NAVY F/14 TOMCAT and F/16 HORNET design but, my 87GT doesn't fly nor does it have the armaments and radar absorbing paint. Though looking at my dash board it quite a cockpit. Here are some pictures on CVN 73 USS George Washtington Nimitz Carrier class. In the US Navy I was rated "AD" Jet Mechanic. In my time I have rebuilt these Pratt Witney and GE jet engines from a million pieces to new parts.
Then reinstalling the engines back into the airframe with a crew of 4 squids under 2hours. Sometimes even installing in lesser times depending how fast Maintenance Office wanted to launch these jets. Life on the Carrier is rough and you will need alot of street smarts surving with over 5000 crew members. I can remember fights breaking out in berthing after returning from shore leave under the influence of alcohol - talk about SMACK Down Wrestling in a close cage match of 30 people just throwing fist and bed rack gear. In the end - people will call it a steele cell as Cell Block 73.
For me it was the only ride back home and a experience of fun and hell I will never forget. This is no love boat cruise.
Ok back to my rating. I have tested in FULL AFTERBURNER in AMID to Squadron Level launching jets off the catapult of the USS George Washington.
Yeah, I was a green grape. I joined the US NAVY and made a big difference in U.S. NAVAL AVAITION making our country a safer place while you all slept warm in your beds. Freedom dont come cheap.......amen.
MSD 6 AL - EIS Adpator MSD 6AL, PN 6420
The 6AL shares the same proven circuitry of the 6A with the addition of a built-in adjustable rev limiter. The combination of powerful sparks with the safety of a Soft Touch Rev Control is what makes the 6AL the most popular ignition control in the world.
MSD first developed the Soft Touch rev control to prevent overrev damage to your motor in the event of a missed shift or driveline failure. The rpm limit is adjustable in 100 rpm increments with MSD’s plug-in modules. When the engine reaches your selected limit, the Soft Touch circuitry begins dropping the spark to various cylinders. On the next cycle, these plugs are fired again to prevent fuel from loading up in the cylinder. The result is a smooth and accurate limiting action without backfires or roughness.
The Soft Touch Rev Control also opens the door for you to add rpm accessories such as a Two Step Rev Control. A Two Step allows you to set two rpm limits, one for a holeshot rpm and another for overrev protection. The 6AL is supplied with rubber shock mounts and modules for 3,000, 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000 rpm.
Prior to installing MSD6-AL I strongly suggest a new OEM ignition coil, and distributor cap/rotor. Primary Output: 460-480 Volts; OEM stock coil output: 32,000 volts. If I installed the blaster2 coil I'd be at 45,000volts. As of right now 32,000volts is sufficient.
MSD 6 AL - This link is a "how to" install the MSD 6 AL with Tachometer Adapter-8910 EIS. Even though I am not running with the Blaster2 coil -installing a new OEM ignition still coil works great. FYI - your plugs life burn real hot - shortening sparkplug life span by half.
I took this class to keep my mind clear, its helping, I am just trying to keep myself busy and be ready for anything.
Pictures taken Sept 2007 San Diego Beach, La Jolla CA
Port and Polish Heads, Intake Manifolds. Head is Rebuilt.
eRAM 3.0 Super ChargerSupplements N/A during high RPMs... The eRam is modded esp. the housing unit I created for it. Its housing unit design is based on Jet Engine Mechanical compressions stages.
Derale Oil Cooler Kit - I use Supra Oil Filter # 08922-02011 in order to use this oil cooler. Having a oil cooler reduce my oil viscocity break downs, esp here in AZ.
Valvoline 10w40. -->I keep the oil level at the lowest mark. 2004: I switched to Valvoline 10w40 -its clear. Prior oil changes. I use koresene base engine flush. Then use 3quarts oil +1 Lucas Oil treatment. Every other oil change I replace my G3 Fuel filter at the PCV. Using a G3 Fram fuel filter eliminate sludge circulation to the intake running manifold, egr valves and vacums lines etc.
VRD HiBypass Induction HOOD - reduces HEAT engine cavity keeping my head cover, and intake runners cool. The HiBypass Induction [One Inch behind the radiator] causes a vacum to exit heat away from exhaust manifold and the incoming hot air from the radiator. This is great if you run your car at high RPMs - reducing heat engine cavity helps your engine perform more efficient. ***Note: If you mod your engine performance expect your engine to run much hotter. This hood design is a must.
Random Technology High Flow
CAT increases low end torque - Passes Emission every two years - Very deep throat sound..
Custom Exhaust -- 2.5" Mandrake piping front to end. Got the PaceSetters at 2.5" collector to High Performance CAT "RandomTechnology" that sits underneath the Manual stick..location of secondary CAT which is gone.
OBX Racing Muffler
with Silencer.. I have replaced this one due to the fact that cops love to give out tickets because of looks and it didnt quite give me the back pressure my engine needed... it had that ping sound like those shitty Hondas. So I went to Midas and got a RAVIN Performance Muffler for v8s model z77 with low rectangle chrome tip. O,h the sound is great and it doesn't make my car sound ricey anymore... More like a Ferrari 550.."I wish" Driving around about 30minutes the exhaust tip gets very hot. Cool, the High Performance CAT is working properly.
KONI YELLOWs - Adjustables -->I have my ride setting for two full 360* turns for the firm GT Rail Ride. Changing lanes is very responsive and grabs curves easily out of the hole.
Pro Kit - One inch Drop.. not bad but lower can be better. I got Dropzones for 95 Celica CoilOvers. Having these coilover will allow 3" drop adjustments. Lower to the ground allows better top end speeds.
Scorcher T/A ZR - Pyrotechnic performance with a ZR-rating.. The ones I have are the red stripes and very quite at 140mph plus. The firm ride above 100MPH feels like Im doing about 65MPH.
Dunlop - SP Sport FM901 - The new SP® SPORT FM901 was born from Digi-Tire Technology to achieve the optimum in tread design and tire performance. Its extreme directional tread pattern and wide tread profile mean improved handling and grip performance, even tread wear and a radical look. Max Flange Shield (MFS) increases protection of wheels against curb damage while improving the appearance of tire and wheel package. It's the look you'll want to show off on your sports compact.
Pacer Wheels - Model 272M Affinity Machined. Size 17" x 7"... The upgrade from 16 to 17" is firm and very soft ride. The Dunlops FM901 lip protection is very beefy to ride comfort.. A bit slow of the line due to larger wheels and tires. I also noticed that my ride is a bit higher like a 4 x 4 truck..Joking. I will keep my 16" for GT low riding... Not bad at 140MPH Plus.
JSP Apache Adjustable
Spoiler-enables downforce around corners and wet roads. Its very sturdy and quite at any wind speeds. On rainey days it creates a wake mist 50 yards back - cars behind me don't like my wake. For top end speeds. I adjust the spoiler all the up for even down force. Sad it doesnt rain here much :(.
NGK V-Power BCPR5EY stock # 1266 - Replace every 3 month - Gapped at 1.2mm ~ .046 inches..As of 2004 I use Denszo Iridium plugs -No NGK here in AZ. Some may argue my gap is wrong - its not. The bigger arc gap allow me to have betters detonation in the combustion chamber. At 32,000 volts it jumps the gap easily.
Aftermarket Radiator FAN - 12inch Radiator FAN by Imperial Automotive Products, by Hayden. Dumped the stock radiator fan and housing for a $65.00 USD electrical fan from Autozone. This new radiator is lighter, thinner and pushes more CFM of air. Very quie too. Part Number is 226112 - 3680N. FYI - Toyota dealer wants $206.00 USD for just the motor.
CAI Wheel Well As I just learned, our 4gens celica Air Temp sensor was incorporated in the MAF. I see this as a draw back, because the MAF absorbs / conducts heat by the engine headers. Thus, throwing off the real outside ambient temperature readings by 1-5%. Later models "I believe" the air temp sensor was relocated in the airbox to counter act heat exposure. This method reduced heat exposure affecting the AIT sensor. This CAI modification will move 150% CFM more (colder)air than stock air intake system. Even though MAF is exposed to heat (exhaust headers)the increase of colder air through the MAF will be null, resulting with better accurate readings.
Autometer Phantom, Air / Fuel, -->Its nice to see all six Stoich Yellow bars. It tells me that Im getting perfect air fuel mixture and that the Eram is sucking in more cold air. Also having a A/F teaches you how to feather press your gas pedal for optimium mixture.
LUKUSA SAC--->Well, I dropped the centerforce dual clutch at 6800RPMs racing subaru wagon with turbo. I melted everything, so due to economic reasons I went with a LUKUSA clutch that is way better than the stock clutch. Reduced pedal effort and/or pedal travel. Equal pedal forces over the entire vehicle line. New options for reducing the clutch diameter. Less release bearing travel over the service life. The servo systems are omitted (for commercial vehicles). Simpler release system. Lower release loads, which remain constant over the service life. More wear reserve resulting in longer service life.
Eram SuperCharger Supplements your N/A K&N filter types. Great Power Range Band from 3200RPMs to 7200RPMs. The Axial Compressor spins 28,000 RPMs and produces 935CFM. This is good because at higher RPMs your engine needs more air. Really cool you can hear it spool up when you mash the pedal at Wide Open Throttle.
SOOT, SLUDGE KILLS :Hey if you are a smoker then you will understand why so many people die of smoking. I use to but I quit. Well, I applied that thought to my engine and wonder what did it look like underneath your valve cover? A smokers lung I thought LOL. Sure enough... I did by popping the valve cover WTF! A SMOKERS LUNG!!! Ok, the picture you saw was 10,000miles ago. Since then I have installed a gasoline filter by Fram using model number G3. As a oil catch can method. It does not constrict PCV. When I do see G3 filter soaked oil I replace it at no more than $3 bucks a pop. I drove VA Beach to AZ after about a dozen oil changes here is what it looks like after 10,000miles now. Here's the valve cover minutes after taking it off the head. 10K miles ago the valve cover was so sludge you couldn't see any part of the valve cover inner lining. The G3 filter really works as a CATCH CAN method.
